Village of Churchville Reminders
Construction and remodeling: Before you start any new construction or remodeling project, please phone the village office at 293-3720. Almost any construction may require a building permit. New buildings, additions, alterations, kitchens and baths, out buildings, swimming pools (both inground and above ground), fences, sheds, stone and blacktop driveways, extensions or turnarounds, decks, patios, all generally require a permit. Please remember that zoning and code enforcement are not intended to impede or inconvenience people. They are in place to ensure the health, safety, integrity and property values of the community. Parking: Parking on Village streets is prohibited between 2:00-6:00 A.M. from Nov. 1 till May 1. Cemetery Urns: Pots and urns must be removed from gravesites by October 15th of each year. Christmas wreaths and other such decorations must be removed by March 15th of each year. Fall Leaf and Brush Pick-Up: Please take notice that the Village of Churchville begins leaf pickup approximately October 15th and will continue on each Monday until November 28th or as long as weather permits. Leaves must be raked to the curb for pickup. The village uses a leaf vacuum machine for this process so leaves in plastic bags will not be picked up. Open containers that can be dumped are okay to use. Please be careful not to mix leaves with branches, brush or twigs. These items will plug up the machine. Brush will be picked up year around on the FIRST AND THIRD MONDAYS OF EACH MONTH. Brush must be piled neatly at the curb with larger ends all facing the same direction. Containers with combination of yard waste and garbage will not be picked up. Grasscycling: The village has a policy that strongly advocates grasscycling. Grasscycling means leaving grass clippings on your lawn after each mowing. It not only enriches your lawn with important nutrients, but it reduces the demand on expensive landfills. * It's easy - less work/more free time How to Grasscyle: 1) Leave the clippings on your lawn after each mowing or add them to your compost For those of you who find it difficult to break old habits and insist on raking your yard, effective JUNE 1, 2002, GRASS CLIPPINGS MUST BE PUT IN BIODEGRADABLE BAGS FOR PICKUP. Pickup of this material will also be on the FIRST AND THIRD MONDAYS of each month. If you do not wish to use the bags, the village will maintain a compost pile, available during daylight hours, in the rear of the cemetery (outside the village DPW fence). You are welcome to BRING your compost material there. |
