Village of Churchville - Planning and Zoning
One of the fundamental powers of any municipality is the ability to control land use within it's boundaries. The basic statutory authority for zoning and planning is granted in the village law. Zoning is the basic and most significant of all land use controls.
Planning Board
The Village of Churchville Planning Board has 5 voting members appointed by the Mayor. One member acts as chairperson. There are also two alternates that are available if a board member is unable to attend a scheduled meeting. The planning board, by state statute, is given specific duties to oversee land use within the municipality. Site plan services, subdivision control, and special use permits are powers vested under general municipal law to the planning board.
Current members of the Planning Board are: Roberta Ames, Chairman, Mark Majewski, Larry Mitchell, Barbara Sadden and John Young. Alternate members are David George and Larry Powell.

Zoning Board of AppealsThe Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) has five members, one as chairperson. Two alternates are also appointed to the board of appeals. The board gives an interpretation of the zoning law when someone appeals to this board. Use variances, area variances, and non-conforming uses are issues they review.
Current members are Ronald Belczak, Chairman, Cindy Jessop, Lyle Warren, Ruth Warlick and Greg Wooster. Currently there are two alternate positions available. If you are interested in being a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals, please contact the Village Office at 293-3720.
